7:23 pm - Things.

Life has been good lately. I'm excited about my upcoming trip to Europe. I leave on the 20th, get back on the 9th. I'm going to see my family in Monaco and watch the F1 race there on the 25th, then I'll see Paris and the London culminating with a Radiohead show in Dublin before I return home. Work has been really good to me. I suspect they can tell when I'm bored and start looking for the greener grass, so they hit me with an interesting project or a promotion. No thanks to mentalflossboy I've become addicted to Top Gear and have been working my way through the whole catalog. This, along with Formula 1, have slowly been increasing my appreciation for cars. I've been looking, not too seriously, though, at a 1991-1993 Porchse 964. Like maybe in silver or poop-brown. That would be sweet. So anyways, I decided to Geico it and had some WTF's: Hope everyone is doing well out there in LJ land.

Does anyone reading this LJ know of any mechanical engineers looking for work? They need someone to do my job at our sister company. They're going to be putting in a 3000 ton press and doing some other cool stuff.

11:19 am - William Walker
|
So read the part under "Influence and Reputation", specifically, the part about how he got his butt kicked in Costa Rica in 1856. This is a source of great national pride in CR.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Walker_%28soldier%29
He began his campaign on this day in 1855. The US tried to convert Central America into a "slave holding empire".
(P.S. I love Wikipedia)

11:04 pm - Weekend
|
Behind this cut text are pictures from the Daft Punk show at Coachella this Sat. Plus, some pretty large video files. These show was the sickest shit I have ever seen. I also spent Friday night at Hotel Cafe with Gio, Stephen and Darren. Sunday I went to the California Speedway to see the AMA Supersport and Superbike races. I was hobbling around on my gimpy leg, it was the first day w/o bandages and it was kinda gross. I spent that day with Lynn, and we had a blast.
( WEEKEND TO END ALL WEEKENDS )

I should probably post more about the motorcycle crash, but I havn't had the heart to. I've been moping around the house pretty much every day since the accident. I walk a lot at work, and it hurts and then i get home and take off my bandages and it feels so good and I just want to sit and relax. I bought parts for my bike and they arrived, but I havn't put them on yet. I will do that when I feel the time is right. I'm not ready to start that process yet. I bought a camera, a Canon SD600. If I had to get a tatoo, it would be the canon logo. I just think canon is so cool, even though I don't know much about the company, just their camera. Let me tell you, this camera is pure sex. I took pictures of the wounds for my own records. I also took pictures of the gnarly tire marks in the road on El Camino Real. Anyways, this weekend is going to be awesome. Tonight is Hotel Cafe, tomorrow Coachella and Sunday is AMA Superbike racing. Right now I'm going to watch the Formula 1 race from last weekend, in my boxers, and enjoy not having bandages on.

9:52 pm - Snowboarding
|
I just got back from snowboarding. I went to Snow Summit and had a blast.
I am really surprised at how tired I am, snowboarding is not exactly an aerobic exercise. I took a terrible class that wasted most of the afternoon, but they did teach me how to turn. I am proud to say that I went down a black diamond on my thrid run down the mountain. The inclination was disconcerting, when i got to the bottom I realized how tense I was going down it. I also fell once very hard towards the end of the day. I was "on my toes" as they say and caught my heel edge and did a "highside" as we call it in motorcycling. I was hauling butt too. So that cancels out the black diamond. Today was my second time snowboarding in about 6 years, and what made it a great experience was one of the friends that I went with, who followed me around and gave me pointers for most of the morning and I learned a lot. So thanks, Shawn.
Did I mention that I had a blast?
I also saw the underwear tree. For those of you not yet initiated, on the really warm days it's traditional for young women to throw their panties and bras into this one tree as they are passing it on the chair lift. How they managed to get out of their clothes while on the lift baffles me, and no one could explain it to me although the people I asked were all very matter-of-fact about it. "Oh yeah, the underwear tree... no big deal", with a distant look on their face.
I did get sunscreen in my sinuses from trying to rub it on the underside of my nose, and it stings. I feel kinda sunburned.
